Dr Ian GALBRAITH
Founder and CEO of The Origins Network (www.origins.net)
His background is in information technology, particularly in document digitising. He founded Europe’s first document scanning bureau (1987), and was consultant on digitisation projects to The National Archives, Courts Service, Land Registry and the Irish General Register Office. He proposed, in 1996, putting the records of the General Register Office for Scotland online - the first such service anywhere, and the first to use pay-per-view on the web. His primary interest is in providing online access to the extraordinary range of rich material which is hidden away in archives.
