David Taylor

David Taylor was born near the river Medway in 1969 and has always had an interest in ships and the sea. As a boy he joined the cadets and learnt seamanship and how to sail on the river Medway. After leaving school, he joined the Operations Branch of the Royal Navy and served in three ships, that took him to the Mediterranean, Far East, West Indies, the South Atlantic and Falklands as well as home waters. On leaving the service in 1991 he started a career at the National Maritime Museum where he has been for the last 17 years and is currently the Collections Licensing Manager. Published works include an article on Daring Class Destroyers, Binnicle Publishing 1995 and he was a contributing author for The Trafalgar Campaign, Chatham Publishing 1997. He is still a keen Yachtsman and can be found mainly sailing the East Coast and Channel areas.
